So you’ve cancelled your service with AmeriGas, and now the tank just sits there, going nowhere fast. It’s been there for weeks, and despite your best efforts, kind words and threats, they still won’t come and get it. Had I known the following a few weeks ago, maybe our pig would have been reunited with the herd a lot sooner.
This from a knowledgeable source that has dealt with our problem a few more times than we have:
If after cancelling your service with AmeriGas Propane, your tank has sat there 30 days or longer, send them a letter via Certified Mail. Give them all the pertinent info about your account (name, address, account number, location of tank). Tell them if they don’t come get their tank, you will start billing them $X.XX per day/week/month for storing their tank. You pick the amount and the time interval.
They should wake up and come get your tank.
After our tank got picked up today, I talked to a friend of mine that knows some folks at AmeriGas. Evidently in our area alone they have approximately 250 tanks to pick up. Those would be tanks of people that are no longer using their services. Perhaps it’s time for AmeriGas to review their business practices?
